I have been away from my blog for so long! I have been busy and to be honest, am still unsure how to make this blog creative, as well as, informative. I am learning how to add things, how to post, and  how to link up other blogs. Still sooo much to learn! I absolutely love all the blogs I am following and have found so many good ideas!

Favorite Science Books

Seymour Simon is a wonderful author! His pictures are amazing and the kids love looking at them. We are studying the Space unit now and the one book that is always borrowed off my board (place where I display books for each unit) is The Sun by Seymour Simon.

Blog and giveaway

I have been playing around on this blog quite a bit today. Wanted to change the background and when I found a background I liked, I could not get it to change! It is so frustrating! But as I was doing this, I was also reading some blog posts and came across a giveaway from The Moffatt Girls site. It is a Ready to Read program that is being given away! Check out the Moffatt Girls button on the side of my blog.

open house

Open house is over and went well! Love, love, love my class! They are sweet hearts and make me happy! The parents were impressed with our notebooks. :) that is encouraging and the students are enjoying making their notebooks. They have one for Reading, Math, and Science. A couple parents told me they couldn't believe how much is in them so far and how creative they are. That was awesome to hear. Hope it continues...

Tomorrow night is Open House and I had two activities for the students to complete. One is a Bio Poem and the other is a character traits activity. I had the students list 10 character traits that describe them. I took these words and put them into wordle.net.  This site is really cool and my students love how theirs turned out!! I am going to hang them in the hallway so the parents can read them before they come in to the classroom. Hope all goes well!

My first blog post!

Welcome to my new teaching blog! 

I have been a blog stalker for about 5 months now and realized that many of the blogs are geared toward primary grades. All of the ones I "stalk" are magnificent, but I teach 5th and there are not many blogs to follow for the intermediate, or at least, I haven't found many. So, I signed up to learn how to create a blog, And here I am, trying this out. 

I found many great resources and will link their sites to the side of mine!

Please be patient with me as I am learning a whole new world that I never thought I'd enter.
